"We should never despair, our Situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new Exertions and proportion our Efforts to the exigency of the times." --George Washington, letter to Philip Schuyler, 1777

Hi, I'm Mary Huls and I am running for the Texas House of Representatives - House District 129.  As an ordinary American I have become increasingly concerned with the dramatic expansion of the Federal Government and its increasing involvement in every aspect of our lives.   This concern led me to become active in the 9.12 Project and Tea Party constitutional grassroots movements.

It has become obvious that the voice of the people has been lost.  It is not enough to write letters, send emails and make phone calls.  Equally so, our rallies and protests are ignored or demeaned by the mainstream media.  Consequently, I choose to exercise my prerogative as an ordinary citizen to enter the political arena to aid in returning government back to the people and having our voices heard once again.   We must be relentless in replacing the career politicians who have failed the citizens of Texas.   Grassroots candidates such as I, true to their principles and values, true to the Constitution of the United States, and true to the independent spirit of Texas will be the peoples' remedy.

Austin has many of the same problems of DC; pushing the same progressive agenda that threatens to undermine the constitutional fundamentals needed to ensure our liberty and prosperity.   A strong State Government can remedy many of these problems.   Austin must be a champion for you by protecting the sovereignty of Texas.  We can be successful in pushing back the over-reaching federal mandates through the nullification process.

With your support and my own work ethic, we can ensure Texas remains true to her independent spirit.  I will be an activist and a voice for you.  It will take all of us to accomplish this goal.  If you believe as I do, I ask for your vote in the March 2, 2010 in the Republican Primary.

Thank you.

"As a voter in 129, I would like to thank the Clear Lake Republicans for holding this forum. And I suspect that Mrs. Huls would like to thank you as well because it convinced this longtime Davis voter to switch and vote for her....This is not a protest vote on my part, it will be a positive vote for someone that earned it. Mary,
I want you to know I'm very proud to endorse you for the Texas House District 129. We need people like you that simply want the best for Texas and Texans. One of the many things that has made your campaign attractive is your position on state's rights. Some feel that this is a fight that should take place on the federal level, but the U.S. House and Senate will never relinquish their hold on the states voluntarily. We must have lawmakers on the state level willing to take the fight to the courts. Thanks for your willingness to serve District 129!

Karl Bauch
Chairman, Precinct 0744
